Terms
Last updated 20 October 2026
These are the terms for using Doorway. By adding Doorway to a Discord server, or opening it, you agree to them. They’re written to be read, so please do.
Who we are
Doorway is provided by Spira Studio Ltd (“we”, “us”), registered in England and Wales, company number 17150890, registered office 80 Oakwood Drive, Manchester, M28 3HN. You can reach us at hello@spirastud.io.
Doorway runs inside Discord, so Discord’s terms apply to you as well. Doorway isn’t made by or affiliated with Discord.
The price
Doorway is free while it’s in open alpha. If that ever changes, we’ll say so here and in Doorway well before it does, and nobody will be charged for anything they haven’t agreed to. You can stop using Doorway, and remove it from your server, at any time.
If you add Doorway to a server
Whoever adds Doorway to a Discord server, and that server’s admins, are responsible for how it’s used there:
- Who comes in. Everyone in the server who can open Doorway can come in, see who’s there and what they’re doing, and be seen.
- What goes up. Notices, the office’s name and anything else the office’s admins put in it should be fine for everyone in the server to see.
- Logos and pictures. Only upload a logo or picture you have the right to use. You keep it; you let us show it in your office.
- Who runs the office. The server’s Discord admins can let others run the office too. They’re responsible for who they choose.
What Doorway’s bot does in your server
When you add Doorway, you give its bot permission, through Discord, to do the office’s work in your server. With that permission it:
- makes, renames, moves and deletes voice channels for the office’s rooms, and changes who can join them, when an admin asks;
- makes a temporary voice channel when people at a desk pod start a huddle, and deletes it once it’s empty;
- moves people between those voice channels as they walk about the office, asking them first unless they’ve said not to;
- mutes and deafens people in a quiet room’s voice channel while they’re there, and undoes it when they leave;
- makes a #front-door channel and keeps one message there up to date;
- sends a Discord message to someone who asked to be told when a colleague is free, back or in, if they’ve left the office by then.
It doesn’t read messages or listen to calls. You can take any of this away by changing its permissions in Discord, or remove the bot at any time.
Using Doorway fairly
Please don’t use Doorway to harass, threaten or impersonate anyone, to put up anything unlawful, or to break Discord’s rules. Don’t try to get into offices you’re not let into, break or overload Doorway, or get at other people’s information. If someone does, we may stop them using Doorway, or stop it working in a server.
What’s ours
Doorway, its look, its art and its code belong to Spira Studio Ltd. You may use Doorway as it’s meant to be used; you may not copy it, or make something from it, without asking us.
No promises it’s perfect
We work hard to keep Doorway running and to keep it working well, but it’s provided as it is, especially while it’s in open alpha: it’s still being built, and things will change and break. Information in Doorway, like an office’s layout, desks and settings, may be lost, so don’t rely on it for anything you can’t set up again. We can’t promise it will always be available, without mistakes, or that it will suit what you need. We may change Doorway, add or take away features, or stop providing it. If we stop, we’ll say so here and in Doorway first wherever we can.
Our responsibility
As far as the law allows, we aren’t responsible for any loss that comes from using Doorway, or not being able to use it, including lost work, profits or data, or for anything Discord does. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t let us limit. If you’re using Doorway as a consumer, you keep all your rights under the law.
Your information
Our privacy page says what Doorway gets from Discord, what it keeps and why, and your rights.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Doorway changes. If a change matters, we’ll say so in Doorway or here before it applies, and change the date at the top. Carrying on using Doorway after that means you accept the new terms.
The law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts can settle any disagreement about them. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also go to your own country’s courts. If anything here turns out not to be enforceable, the rest still applies.
